eDNA Calcserv

The Calculation Service (CalcServ) is an on-line time deterministic calculation engine. CalcServ provides the ability to apply calculations or advanced functions to eDNA data. Calculated pseudo-points are based on field unit status and sensed values from the field. The Calculation Service is the eDNA pseudo-point or C-point processor.

CalcServ is a real-time Service that generates point values based on user supplied algorithms. As values are calculated, the Calculation Service optionally sends those values to an History Service, and as the status of those values changes, the Calculation Service optionally sends that information to an Alarm Service.

Calculation Service point algorithms are defined using a Basic language. The Service can access other real-time or calculated points, as well as data in SQL databases.

A key strength of the Calculation Service is its ability to support a broad variety of functions. It supports functions from third-party libraries and functions on separate processors. Users may add libraries as they wish. The Notification Service is an example of functions executed on another processor.

Calculation Service point configurations, including the Basic algorithm, are maintained in the Configuration Manager. Users with proper security can create, modify and delete calculations online. Users can manage the calculations from their desks using the Configuration Manager Client, (CMCfg).

The Calculation Services allows you to incorporate data in SQL Services into your calculations. A function library provides support for ODBC. Access to SQL data is made simple by the client. SQL values are selected using menus similar to those provided for selecting eDNA values. Both text and numeric information are supported. SQL data can be combined or analyzed with eDNA data. Results can be stored in a eDNA History Service or stored to a SQL database. This allows a seamless gateway between your SQL databases and your eDNA data Services.
